Planned surgery
A clear pathway, step by step.
“You need surgery.” Three words that often raise more questions than the illness itself. Where? When? What happens? Here is the pathway for planned surgery.
Abdominal, abdominal wall and endocrine conditions
A former senior registrar at Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) and the Hôpital Riviera-Chablais, Dr Enrica Chiriatti has solid experience in laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgery. Her practice focuses on the treatment of abdominal, abdominal wall and endocrine conditions.
1. The surgical consultation
It all starts with a consultation with the surgeon, in Montreux. They review your situation, confirm whether or not surgery is indicated, and explain the procedure: what it corrects, how it is carried out, any alternatives and what to expect afterwards.
2. Preparation
Depending on the procedure, a pre-operative assessment is arranged: laboratory tests, which can be done directly on site, an anaesthetic consultation, and precise instructions (fasting, which medicines to stop or continue).
3. The operation, at a partner clinic
Operations take place in a clinic where our surgeons are accredited to operate, with the appropriate technical facilities. Many operations are now performed as day surgery: you arrive in the morning and go home the same day, accompanied.
4. Follow-up, back in Montreux
Post-operative follow-up then takes place at the centre, at Montreux station: checking how the wound is healing, managing your recovery, gradually returning to your activities. Your regular doctor is kept informed at every step.
