Adolescent health: a branch of medicine in its own right
Too old for the paediatrician, not quite in the adult world: teenagers occupy a medical in-between where many slip through the net. Adolescent medicine exists precisely for them.
We see a doctor when something is wrong. But when everything is fine? A regular check-up remains the simplest and most effective act of prevention: it detects early what is easily treated early. Here are the useful guidelines, and what really happens during a check-up.

Blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar: several risk factors develop silently for years, without any symptoms. A regular check-up with your GP makes it possible to spot them before they cause problems, adjust your lifestyle and bring your vaccinations up to date.
It's also the chance to ask all those questions you keep for “next time”: sleep, stress, diet, aches and pains that come and go. A check-up is a moment for you, not just a list of tests.
These guidelines are indicative: your doctor will adapt them to your situation, your family history and your lifestyle.
A check-up consultation generally lasts 20 to 30 minutes. It starts with a conversation about your general health, your habits and any concerns you may have, followed by a clinical examination. If necessary, your doctor orders a blood test or further tests, which can be done directly in our on-site laboratory, at Montreux station.
You leave with a clear picture of your health, and a simple plan if something needs following up.
That's the case for many residents of the Vaud Riviera, expats, students and newcomers. Having a doctor who knows you changes everything: consistent follow-up, a single centralised record, and quick referral to the right specialist when needed.
At Quai Santé, 8 general practitioners are accepting new patients, with complementary expertise: care of patients with chronic conditions, adolescent medicine, geriatric medicine, micronutrition. Appointments are booked by phone on 021 964 30 00.
The rest is simple: our medical centre is in the Montreux railway station (SBB) building, Avenue des Alpes 74. Step off the train and you're there.

Osteoporosis lives up to its nickname of the silent disease: the loss of bone density causes no symptoms, until the day a minor knock, sometimes a simple fall from standing height, causes a fracture. The good news: it can be detected, and it can be managed.

Looking after your mental health already takes courage. Working out the difference between a psychiatrist, a psychotherapist and a psychologist shouldn't be one more obstacle. Here are the differences, simply put.
